This is an art project from earlier this year. I read "Harold and the Purple Crayon" to my students and then gave them a sheet of shape outlines on purple paper (I drew a large number of shapes and copied them onto purple copy paper) Students were told to use only the shapes and a purple crayon to create their pictures. This went very well. Here are a few of the finished pictures.
Aren't they adorable? The last one is a log chopping machine!
