Plastic Drawers are boring NO MORE!

I have been working on a few things to bring into school. I bought two organizers/caddies off of Kijiji for $5 each! It was not fun putting them together all by myself though, as spacial intelligence is not one of my strengths. Let's just say the hinges took 3 tries to get in the right direction.

The real purpose of this post is to share my updated plastic storage drawers. I have a number of these in my classroom. We all know they are great for storing everything from Bulletin Board letters to paper. They really look sloppy though, once they are filled up.

So.... solution? Mod Podge! Yup. Here are your required supplies:
-Any old plastic storage tower. The size of the drawers is not important.
-Mod Podge (I used the Paper one, but most will work)
-Foam paintbrush
-Scrapbook paper of your choice
-scissors or paper trimmer
-a ruler or measuring tape
Step 1: Measure the front of your drawer and cut paper to match. Note: If your drawer has a handle in the middle of the drawer check out this blog to see how she got around it.

Step 2: Cover the INSIDE front of your drawer with Mod Podge

Step 3: stick your paper onto the Mod Podge, colour side in (so that the colour will show through the front of the drawer)

Step 4: Smooth out any bubbles (this is IMPOSSIBLE! I just learned to overlook a few)

Step 5: Cover the back of the paper with another coat of Mod Podge to seal (more bubble will appear at this step...)

Step 6: Apply several coats of Mod Podge as desired (be sure to wait about 20-30 minutes between each coat. Also, be sure to seal the edges of the paper really well so they won't peel off.

And VOILA! finished product: a cute AND useful storage tower that no longer looks messy, no matter what you throw in there. I can't wait to get these into my room and bring home the two more sets I have at school!

Hope you love it, try it, let me know how it goes!

 See you soon!
